Syntec started with a simple goal: solve real performance and durability problems in demanding environments, beginning with carpet for the marine industry. That focus never changed, even as the company grew into new markets, new products, and new industries. Every step forward came from the same place it started, listening to customers and building what they needed.
Today, Syntec spans handcrafted work and modern engineering, from Gussi Italia steering wheels to the performance built into every material we make. Forty years in, we are still delivering the inside edge.
1950s
Tom Watters Sr. founded Integrated Products, Inc., which grew into one of the nation's largest carpet yarn spinners.
1983
Tom Watters Sr. entrusted the leadership of Integrated Products to his son, Bill Watters, and his brothers.
1985
Bill Watters launched a marine products division within Integrated Products—the foundation of what would become Syntec Industries.
1986
Syntec Industries became an independent company.
1992
Syntec expanded into the conversion van market with its carpet product line.
1998
Syntec entered the vinyl upholstery market, fueling significant growth and diversification into mats, vinyl, fabric, leather, trim, adhesives, and luxury vinyl tile (LVT).
2000
Syntec expanded into the manufactured housing market.
2001
Syntec was acquired by the Peeples family, broadening its product portfolio and expanding its international reach.
2009
Syntec expanded into the multifamily housing market with luxury cushioned sheet vinyl, partnered with Beauflor, entered the RV market, and strengthened its manufactured housing offerings.
2010
Syntec became the North American distributor of Gussi Italia steering wheels.
2011
Syntec became the majority owner of Gussi Italia and expanded its sales into powersports and low speed vehicles.
2016
The company introduced reFLEX as an innovative new flooring option, expanding our product portfolio with a durable and high-performance solution.
2018
Syntec began producing and selling its own woven vinyl flooring, expanding its manufacturing capabilities and enhancing its offering of premium flooring solutions across key markets.
2022
Syntec continued its growth as a trusted supplier, offering one of the industry's most comprehensive portfolios of carpet, resilient flooring, LVT, steering wheels, and specialty products for the marine, RV, manufactured housing, multifamily housing, and utility vehicle industries.
2023
Bill Watters announced his retirement and named Ryan Paris as his successor.
2024
Syntec Corporate Headquarters moves from Rome, GA to Dalton, GA.
2024
Ryan Paris assumed the role of President, ushering in a new era of leadership focused on innovation, growth, and expanding Syntec's product offerings.
